Learning Bees is a Welsh-medium tutoring business based in Cardiff. It's a trading name of Craig Bee, who operates as a sole trader - so Craig Bee is the data controller for the personal data described in this policy. This policy explains what personal data we collect when you use our website or buy from us, and how we look after it.

We do not use cookies, analytics, or tracking pixels on our website. The only automatic data exchange is that our web fonts are loaded directly from Google's servers, which means Google receives your device's IP address when a page loads - see Section 8 for more on this.

Our legal basis for this is that it's necessary to fulfil a contract with you (Contract), and in some cases our legitimate interest in running the business (Legitimate Interests). We do not use your data for marketing unless you've clearly opted in, and you can withdraw that at any time.

Our tutoring is for children, but the account holder is always the parent or guardian, who provides the consent and the child's details. We only hold the minimum information needed to teach your child (their name and year group) and never contact a child directly outside of agreed lessons.

• We do not record lessons, and we do not collect or store photos, audio, or video of your child.

• Only Craig has access to your child's work and Google Classroom activity - it is never shared with, or visible to, any other pupil or third party.

6. Sharing your data with third parties

• GoCardless — to process Direct Debit payments. GoCardless collects and stores your payment details directly; we never see or hold your full card or bank details.

• Google — your child's Google Classroom is hosted on Google's platform, so their name and any work they submit is processed by Google as part of that service. Craig sets up and manages the Classroom and is the only person with teacher access to it; your child can access their own Classroom using the login you set up for them. When tutoring ends, Craig removes your child from the Classroom and deletes their work (see Section 5). Google's own retention and deletion practices then apply to anything already processed on their systems.

Some of these providers may process data on servers outside the UK, including in the United States. Where this happens, they rely on legal safeguards - such as the UK's International Data Transfer Agreement or the EU-US Data Privacy Framework - to protect your data to UK standards. You can check Google's and GoCardless's own privacy policies for the specifics of how each of them handles this.

7. How we store your data and how long we keep it

Your data is stored in our email account (Gmail) and, where applicable, in Google Classroom. How long we keep it depends on what it is:

Our website itself does not set any cookies, and we don't use analytics or advertising trackers of any kind.

The site does load its typefaces (fonts) directly from Google Fonts. This isn't a cookie, but it does mean your device connects directly to Google's servers to fetch the fonts, so Google receives your IP address and browser details as part of that request, in the same way it would for any website that links to an external image or file. Google's own privacy policy explains how they handle this.
